South West Regional Meeting
1. Name of venue, address and postcode Tewkesbury Royal British Legion Club 50 Church St, Tewkesbury GL20 5SN
2. Local transport :- The nearest mainline station is Cheltenham. Onward travel to Tewkesbury from there involves either:
• Catching a local train to Ashchurch for Tewkesbury and then a local bus (41) for the 2 miles to town or
• Catching a local bus (D) from Cheltenham station to the town centre and then the 41/42 service to Tewkesbury. ( total journey about 10 miles)
As the most appropriate train from the SW arrives in Cheltenham at 11:09 am both of the above options are very tight time wise.
If there is demand we propose to have a minibus collect from Cheltenham and/or Ashchurch and return.
The last reasonable service from Cheltenham to the far SW is at 17:54. Please let me know if a minibus pickup would interest you. ( if you want to use the local service buses then let me know and I can provide timetables and maps showing bus stops)
3. parking - designated disabled parking? There is no parking on site but as you can see from the attached town map there are car parks within 200metres.
4. Access to venue - steps, ramps, wide doorways for wheelchairs etc, stairs/lift indoors?- There is an approximately 125mm step to both access doors with a minimum door width of 750mm. Internally the site is all on one level with a very shallow ramp to the toilets. No stairs unless you want a game of snooker.
5. disabled facilities eg disabled toilet, bar height accessible to wheelchair user?- Unfortunately there no disabled toilet facilities on site but there are some in the Abbey visitor centre next door (15 metres)
6. food - what might be available, potential cost, how to obtain? (pre-order or on arrival?) – There will be a cold buffet available for a modest £5 …. please pay on the day but obviously pre-booking is required to give the caterer some idea of numbers
7. after meeting arrangements (if any) The will be a pub crawl straight after the meeting led by Pete Goodger our Pubs Officer highlighting a thousand years of drinking in Tewkesbury …enjoy
