Campaign for Real Ale

Pub of the Month December

Each month, Tewkesbury CAMRA will recommend to you a pub in our area which we think is worth a visit.

We will try and tell you which real ales they have on offer and link you to their own website if they have one!

This Month, we are recommending - The Malswick House Malswick, Newent, GL18 1HE

About the Pub

Setting, food and drink

Situated between historic Gloucester and the enchanting Forest of Dean, Malswick House looks like a traditional country inn from the outside, but step inside and you’ll find a contemporary, light and relaxed bar and restaurant.

Our menus are unique and offer an excellent selection of homemade food at reasonable prices, which can be enjoyed with a good real ale or glass of wine from our extensive list – in addition to a choice of many other drinks including Italian coffees.

Malswick House underwent a complete refurbishment and is now a fabulous destination pub/restaurant with a lovely courtyard garden where you’ll find tables dappled by the shade of grape vines. We also have a disabled ramp at the main doors at the front which has improved access from the large car park, and a wheelchair friendly loo too. Past, present and future

In September 2013, The Herefordshire & Gloucestershire Canal Trust bought the freehold of what was then known as The Travellers Rest via its commercial arm, The Wharf House. All profits from Malswick House are used to support the restoration and promotion of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal.

The Herefordshire & Gloucestershire Canal Trust is a registered charity which has the ultimate aim of completing full restoration of the Canal from Gloucester to Hereford – an ambitious but achievable goal. Eventually the Canal will run along the back of Malswick House creating superb views from the garden.
